Site Review: Coin Reaper

Coin Reaper is a bitcoin faucet with a twist: it gives out some bitcoins but also lets you visit several other websites which give more free bitcoins without leaving the Coin Reaper site. So as you reap the bitcoins from them, I guess. Let's check it out:

How It Works:

  • Coin Reaper gives you free bitcoins after you input your Bitcoin address and solve a verbal captcha (and in some cases an image catcha).
  • You'll receive 20µ฿ every time you do this. It's something!
  • You can do this once per day.
  • You'll receive the payment on your digital wallet in less than 24 hours.
  • Coin Reaper allows you to visit several other websites to get more free bitcoins without leaving the site. Not all the websites it shows still do it though; some, like NetLookup, BitCrate and Bitcoins So stopped some time ago. We have reviewed here the ones on their list that do give free bitcoins: Bunny Run, Daily Bitcoins, CoinAd, Bitcoiner and CoinTicket. I personally prefer to visit each web directly, but if you like this approach, visit them all from Coin Reaper.

Introduce your bitcoin address...

... Solve the captcha...

... And win 20µ฿!

Best Strategy:

  • Get a Timer App on your phone and bookmark http://www.coinreaper.com/ on your mobile phone's browser (or any other).
  • Create a new Bitcoin address only to receive bitcoins from Coin Reaper. This way you can assure yourself that they are actually paying you.
  • Visit the site, input your bitcoin address and press the "Reap BTC" button. You'll be sent to a new page with a captcha. Solve it and press the "Get Coinreaper BONUS" button. You'll be sent to a third page informing you they have noted your bonus request. Now you may leave the site or browse the websites on their list for more free bitcoins.
  • Set your timer to 24 hours. When the countdown reaches zero, repeat the previous step.

They always give out 20µ฿

Site Review:

  • Expected profit: 1/5. 20µ฿. Very little, but if you just can't have enough, visit this place daily.
  • Convenience: 3/5. Input bitcoin address and solve captcha, as always. The design of the site is pretty bad though...
  • Payment speed: 2/5. They will send you your bitcoin bonus in less than a day.
  • Risk: 0/5. The risk is equal to 20µ฿ less than the amount of bitcoins Coin Reaper gives out.
  • Final Score: 5/10. Visit this site only if you feel like you must get every single free satoshi you can every day. If you are not that ambitious, skip it. In other places you can get more than at Coin Reaper for doing a couple of simple tasks! I'll talk of them in the future.

Site Review: CoinTicket

CoinTicket is a bitcoin shop. Which sells... Bitcoins... That cost... Nothing. However, you need to get tickets to "buy" the bitcoins. When you visit this shop, you get a certain amount of tickets for free, but if you don't consider enough the amount you received, you can return later and try to get more... Or something like that. If all of this seems too difficult to understand, don't worry, I'll break it down for you: it's just another bitcoin faucet.

How It Works:

  • CoinTicket gives you free bitcoins after you input your Bitcoin address and solve a verbal captcha.
  • You'll receive between 10µ฿ and 20µ฿ every time you do this... Yup. You'll get rich soon at this pace.
  • You can do this once per day.
  • You receive the payments on your digital wallet in less than 24 hours.
  • The site used to have some kind of chance element that gave you more "tickets", which I guess it meant you got more bitcoins for your visit. But I've never received more than 10 tickets and I've been visiting the site for weeks, so I think this must be broken.

Introduce your bitcoin address...

... Solve the captcha...

... And wait a few hours to receive a handful of bitcoins!

Best Strategy:

  • Get a Timer App on your phone and bookmark http://cointicket.org/ on your mobile phone's browser (or any other).
  • Create a new Bitcoin address only to receive bitcoins from CoinTicket. This way you can assure yourself that they are actually paying you.
  • Visit the site, input your bitcoin address and press the "payout" button. You'll be sent to a new page with a captcha. Solve it and press the "send" button. You'll be sent to a third page confirming you'll receive your bitcoins soon.
  • Set your timer to 24 hours. When the countdown reaches zero, repeat the previous step.

I'm rich!... Not

Site Review:

  • Expected profit: 1/5. 20µ฿ at most each day? Maybe this is not worth your time...
  • Convenience: 4/5. It follows the standard formula of introducing your bitcoin address and solving a captcha.
  • Payment speed: 2/5. The coins will find their way to your digital wallet in less than a day.
  • Risk: 0/5. The risk is quite close to the amount of bitcoins this site gives out.
  • Final Score: 5/10. CoinTicket is a bitcoin faucet that in its origins might have tried to give a spin to the formula, but today, as a website, it looks bland and abandoned. It seems like it could disappear at any time, so if you just can't have enough free bitcoins, visit it every day and get a few hundreds of satoshis while it lasts.

Site Review: Bitcoin Faucet (5 updates)

Update 5, 10/04/2013: This site has been closed. No more free Bitcoins. Move on.

Update 2, 04/03/2013: This site is not giving me any bitcoins lately, because it thinks I'm using a proxy or blocking ads, which is not true. If they don't fix their bad detection system soon I'll remove it from the list of websites that give free bitcoins.

Update 3, 05/03/2013: It's working correctly again.

Update 4, 10/03/2013: I've had the same problem as in Update 2 for two days. Three days more and I'll remove it from the list!

What is this? Another website with a faucet spitting free bitcoins instead of water? That's correct! Who would have known, having such a weird name as "Bitcoin Faucet"?... Meh, forget the unoriginal name. You are going to visit the site that gives the biggest amount of free bitcoins of the world. Let's see what it looks like!:

How It Works:

  • Bitcoin Faucet gives you free bitcoins after you wait for two minutes, input your Bitcoin address and solve a verbal captcha.
  • You'll receive up to 1200µ฿ every time you do this.
  • You can do this twice a day, or once every 12 hours.
  • Your receive the payments on your digital wallet within one hour (usually in less than 30 minutes) after you send your address and the solved captcha. Update 1, 01/03/2013: Now you have to earn through the faucet at least 0.01฿ to receive a payout.
  • Easy and profitable, isn't it?

The countdown is long... End already!

Copy address, solve captcha, click on Send!

Best Strategy:

  • Get a Timer App on your phone and bookmark http://www.bitcoinfaucet.at/ on your mobile phone's browser (or any other).
  • Create a new Bitcoin address only to receive bitcoins from Bitcoin Faucet. This way you can assure yourself that they are actually paying you.
  • Visit the site and wait two minutes. You can't change your browser tab, or the countdown will pause. You can use other programs while you wait though. After 60 seconds you'll be allowed to input your Bitcoin address and solve the captcha. When the countdown reaches zero click on the "Send" button. Not before. You'll be sent to a new webpage where it will say how many bitcoins you earned.
  • Set your timer to 12 hours. When the countdown reaches zero, repeat the previous step.

More than 872µ฿ for waiting a couple of minutes is quite good!

These are the bitcoin quantities you can expect

Site Review:

  • Expected profit: 5/5. Up to 2500µ฿ per day. By far the website that gives the most bitcoins for the least amount of work.
  • Convenience: 4/5. Two minutes of countdown is too long, but the reward deserves your wait. It used to be 60 seconds, but I guess its webmaster considers people will be more likely to click on his ads if they have to wait longer without the possibility of changing tabs on the browser.
  • Payment speed: 0/5. It usually takes less than 30 minutes to receive your coins, and never more than one hour. Update 1, 01/03/2013: Now you have to earn through the faucet at least 0.01฿ to receive a payout.
  • Risk: 0/5. One divided by infinite. It's a bitcoin faucet, man! It gives you bitcoins for free.
  • Final Score: 9,5/10 7,5/10. The best site you can visit for free bitcoins in the universe is called Bitcoin Faucet. What else is there to say? Just goUpdate 1, 01/03/2013: Two points less for needing 0.01฿ to receive a payout. The wait hurts. :-(

Site Review: Bitcoiner (2 updates)

Centuries ago, when Bitcoins were born (in 2009 [hey, we are on the Internet!]), one of the ways their first users tried to lure other people into adopting this innovative virtual currency was through "faucets". Basically, these were websites that sent small amounts of bitcoins for free to the bitcoin addresses you wished once or every certain amount of time. Today, it is still considered a way of welcoming new Bitcoin users. One of the best known bitcoin faucets around is Bitcoiner:

How It Works:

  • Bitcoiner gives you free bitcoins after you input your Bitcoin address and solve a verbal captcha.
  • You'll receive around 50µ฿ every time you do this.
  • You can do this only once every 24 hours.
  • Your payments are made around 23:00 GMT.
  • That's all! It can't be simpler. Well, it could if you didn't need to solve a captcha. But then bad people would try to exploit the system.

I always ask for a daily payout...

Best Strategy:

  • Get a Timer App on your phone and bookmark http://bitcoiner.net  on your mobile phone's browser (or any other).
  • Create a new Bitcoin address only to receive bitcoins from Bitcoiner. This way you can assure yourself that they are actually paying you.
  • You only have to input your Bitcoin address once. The site will save it for the next times you return.
  • Visit the site, solve the captcha and click on the blue "Send!" button. Delay your payment or ask for a payment that day. Whatever you prefer.
  • Set your timer to 24 hours. When the countdown reaches zero, repeat the previous step.
  • Update 1, 11/02/2013: Kazuldur wrote on the comments some information that could improve my strategy. Don't forget to check it out!

Payment ordered!

This is the kind of amounts you can expect to get

Site Review:

  • Expected profit: 1/5. Around 50µ฿ each day. A very small amount. But what can I say? Gotta catch 'em all!
  • Convenience: 4/5. It has a captcha to protect itself against the bad guys. The rest is pretty straightforward.
  • Payment speed: 3/5. You'll receive your bitcoins at 23:00 GMT time. You may delay your payments, but I don't see the advantage on this.
  • Risk: 0/5. None. It's a faucet from where you pump free bitcoins instead of water.
  • Final Score: 6/10 Update 2, 11/02/2013: 9/10 (Keep reading!). Compared to other websites, Bitcoiner gives a petty quantity of bitcoins. But it's so fast to obtain them that you may as well visit it every day. Plus the unhappy smiley you see if you return to the site before the 24 hours are over is weird:

:-(

If that website was mine I would have put a different kind of face there. One that matched better with the text:

Now this one is perfect!

Update 2: After catching my tweet about this review, Bitcoiner decided to change their Unhappy Smiley and put in its place the awesome Troll Face!!! They deserve 3 points more now! Visit them every day! Every hour!! Every minute!!!

The Bitcoin Master will confirm this double payout during the next days... But for now:

So classy and appropriate!
